Been a musician or taking music as a career is not as easy as you think. It takes patience,hard work and time. there are many talented people out there who have no idea on how to start up there own music career. In a quest to help the upcoming ones out there, I have listed seven steps in helping them discover their music career. You can check them below:-
1. Discover your talent:-people sounds nice when singing in the bathroom. This is not the kind of talent I am referring to.i am talking about the real talent. I mean a good singing voice.Taking music as a career requires a real talent that can be worked on.dont let people decive you, real talent is needed in order to archive a great music career. Make sure you know how to sing before carrying a mic.
2. fine tune your image untill it is marketable:-once you have determine you want to become a musician, you have to work on yourself always.a good musician work day and night before he can become a star.if you dont work on your voice you cant get better.you can not be sign by any record label or be discover by any producer.untill your talent can be package like a comodity that is ready to bring in money.many people have good voices but it has not been discover to a point were they can become a star.also talent is just ten percent.when working on your talent dont forget to work on your image and brand.
3. find a group:-every musician needs a group of serious and dedicated individuals, whose main goal is to promote the group to the next level.for every peter and paul of psquare, there are thousand of people whose main goal is to remain relevant and keep producing singles and albums.Get a serious group that can take you from zero level to the next level.atleast the group should consist of a manager.
4.perform! Perform!!:-get yourself on the ride.perform at any event, be it on a birthday party or an open mic talent show, etc.just make sure you perform as many time posible.This will help you on the verge of your music career and get your name out there.Today biggest musicians are great performer.They didnt get there by shortcourt, they work hard,some of them even perform for peanuts, some perform for free, some of them even perform for notthing untill they get to that point of becoming a great star.
5.Don't look down on yourself:-Before you can become a star, you will face so many obstacle from people, they will hate you, discourage you, even abuse your music, this usually happen whenever you perform on stage.but always remmeber one thing that the IYAYAN you see today was once like you, despite the ups and down he never look down on himself.He belives that one day this will become a story.And today IYAYAN is everywere.So never look down on yourself.
6.Release singles consistently:-If you want to get recognise in the music industry, you have to release singles regularly.Record day and night and flood the stage with your songs.Release singles, mixtapes and albums untill you build a fame around yourself.let your materials be in the market untill you are discover.Don't make the mistake of droping one song and then you relax.Go to the studio always and reccord alot of songs and release them.whether online or through physical copies.
7.Let your lyrics be a message:-Don't just sing any song because you feel like singing.Sing a song with a message, a song that has content, because people will not recognise you if your song those not have any message.The reason why i love this artist (Wizkid) so mush is because his song always has a lyrics.i mean a message you can pick.The people that listen to music today, listen to the lyrics and mostly the beat also.so the two must be in line before you can become a great musician or a star.
